While scrolling down your Instagram feed, you may see an image blurred on a specific part. There are various reasons why people doing it. It can be a privacy-related or anything.
Then you start wondering, can you do the same thing (blurring the image) with your Android smartphone?. The short answer is, yes you can do it. But how?.
There are many image editing apps in the Google Play Store that you can use to add some effects over your photos, including blur. Speaking of blur, there is an easy-to-use app with a specific function to add blur effect on your photo. It’s called Point Blur.
Follow these instructions to add a blur effect with Android.
Step one: Prepare your photos
Of course, the first thing you have to do if you want to add a blur effect over your photo is preparing the photo it self. In this example I’m going to use a photo taken by me when I and my friends gathered a few days ago. I will blur out my face.
Step two: Install the Point Blur app
Once done preparing your photos, open Google Play Store on your Android device and search for Point Blur app and install it immediately. It’s a lightweight app with only 6 MB of file size.
Step three: Start blurring
Once the Point Blur is successfully installed, open it to start what you want to do, blurring an image. At the fist window you will be asked whether want to keep your photo in the original size or prefer to crop it in a square size. I prefer the first option. Select a photo you want to blur.
Once done selecting the photo, you will be brought to the next window. This is the main window of this app where you can add a blur effect over your photo.
By default, this app comes with a blur effect (yes, of course). But, you can also select two other effects if you want. They are mosaic and triangle. Tap on the three-dots icon on the bottom right corner to select the effect.
Tap on the specific part of your image to start blurring. To thicken the blur part, just tap several times on the same spot of your image. Once done blurring your image, you can save the result by taping on the Save menu on the top right corner. You can also share your edited photo directly on Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms available on your Android device.
