The first add-on you can use to block websites on Firefox is BlockSite. BlockSite is a cool website blocker with an easy to use interface. All you need to do block potentially distracting websites is just by simply entering your preferred websites on the blacklist. In addition to Firefox, BlockSite is also available on Google Chrome. Here is how to block websites on Firefox using BlockSite.
- Go to the Firefox menu and select Add-ons. Or simply press the Shift+Ctrl+A button.
- Search for “BlockSite” on the search box and hit enter. Click the Install button. Restart your Firefox once the installation process is finished.
- Return to the Add-ons Manager page (Shift+Ctrl+A). On the Extensions menu, click Preferences option of Block Site.
- Select the Blaclists option on the Enable functions section. Click the Add button to start adding sites you want to block.
- Type your preferred websites. Type the site name without “www” and “http://” attributes. Click the OKÂ button.
If you have too many websites to be blocked you can also create a file containing the list of websites you want to block. Your file can be in a plain text (with a .TXT extension). Just be sure to add “[BlockSite]” at the first line of your file. Here is the example.

Blocking websites on Firefox using LeechBlock
Other add-on you can use to block distracting websites on Firefox is LeechBlock. This add-in is also extremely easy to set up. Here is how to block websites on Firefox using LeechBlock.
- Go to the Firefox menu and select Add-ons. Or simply press the Shift+Ctrl+A button.
- Search for “LeechBlock” on the search box and hit enter. Click the Install button. Restart your Firefox once the installation process is finished.
- Click the Tools menu and select LeechBlock –> Options.
- Enter the domain names you want to block on the available columns. LeechBlock calls each blacklist as block site. You can also set a custom name of each block site. Click the Next button once you done entering the websites.
- On the next step, specify the period within which to block the sites you have specifid before. You can also specify the days on which to block the websites. Click the Next button once you done with these settings.
- By default, LeechBlock will redirect you to a specified page defined by it. You can also change this default page. Click the OK button once you done with these settings.
