Let’s say you have just sent an email to your colleagues. After pressing the send button you suddenly realize that you missed something, you forget to attach an image. Or more fatally, you attach the wrong image. Then, you want to cancel the sent message but get no idea how.
Calm down, you don’t need to worry at all. Gmail is actually offers you a feature to recall your sent message but the feature is not enabled by default so you have to go further to do this.
Technically, the feature will give a couple seconds delay on your message before it will be truly sent to your receiver. So you will only be able to recall your sent message during that short period.
- First and foremost, please to login to your Gmail account. Once logged in, go to the gear icon on the top-right corner to get the Settings option
- While on the Settings page, keep on the General tab and scroll down to the “Undo Send” section and check the “Enable Undo Send” option. Gmail gives you an option to choose your cancellation period: 5, 10, 20, 30. Choose your desired one and press the Save Changes button on the bottom once you done
- Now, please try to compose a new message and you should have a new pop up message that contains “Undo” link every time you press the Send button
