How to Measure Page Width of a Site With Google Chrome

While browsing the internet you may once stumbled on a site with a lovely interface. And, for a specific reason, you want to create similar site. And you start inspecting every aspect of it, including its width and high.

You may already have some desktop based tools to enable you measuring the width of a site. But, if you are a Google Chrome user you can do this task even easier. There is an Extension called Page Ruler that you can use to measure a web page width and high, with a single click. You can also use this Extension for measuring a banner ads, if you want.

Here is how to use the Extension.

  • First and foremost, install the Page Ruler Extension. You can install the Extension by visiting this link.
  • Once the Extension is installed, you should see a small icon of the Extension on the top-right corner of Google Chrome.

  • Visit the web page you want to inspect and click the Page Ruler icon on the top-right corner of your Google Chrome. Once you clicked the icon, you should see something different on the top side of your Google Chrome consisting of width, high, left margin, right margin, top margin and bottom margin.

  • Click on the any part of the page you want to measure. It will be a start point. Hold and slide your cursor and stop on your desired spot. Check on the width field of Page Ruler which is located in the top-left corner. Done!
