How to Convert Video to an Animated GIF Online

There are a bunch of online GIF makers out there you can use to convert a video into an animated GIF. One of which is EZGIF. This tool allows you to convert a wide range of video formats — from MP4, WebM, AVI, MPEG to FLV — into an animated GIF effortlessly. Since it is web-based, you don’t need to install any additional app on your computer. You can make the converting via web browser.

EZGIF allows you to trim a long video to take only specific part before turning it into GIF, but the file size of the video can’t be larger than 120MB. This capability is handy enough if you want to turn certain movie scene into an animated GIF like you usually find on Tumblr or Twitter.

You can select a video from your computer or paste the URL of the video if you want to turn a video somewhere on the internet, into in GIF. The allowed maximum GIF duration is 30 seconds.

To get started, visit the website of EZGIF and click the Video to GIF menu.

On the next page, click the Choose File button to select a video from your computer. Or paste the URL of the video to the available box if you want to convert a video from the internet. Once you are done selecting the video, click the Upload video button.

Wait until EZGIF is done uploading your video, which can be vary depending on the size of the video you upload. Once the video is uploaded, you will be directed to a new page. Scroll down to set the start time as well as end time of the animated GIF you want to create. Remember, the video can’t be longer than 30 seconds. So, if you have a 20-minute video and want to trim the video in minute 16th, the start time should be 960, while the end time is 990 since EZGIF only recognizes second.

EZGIF also allows you to set the size of the GIF you are creating as well as frame rate. Once you are done with these settings, simply click the Convert to GIF button to start converting the video to GIF.

Wait until EZGIF is done converting your video. Again, the converting process can be vary depending on size of the video. Once the converting process is done, your GIF will be presented right below the Convert to GIF button. Below the GIF, you will see several other menus which you can use to perform more advanced settings to the GIF like cropping, rotating, adding effect and so on. To save the converted GIF to your computer, you can click the save button on the right-most.

Your GIF will be stored to the Download directory on your computer.
