The main function of GIMP is to edit photo, much same as Photoshop. However, you also know that Photoshop sometimes is also used to create beautiful digital arts or mockups. So do GIMP. When editing a photo in GIMP, you may sometimes need to draw a straight line. This article will show you how to do so.
To draw a straight line in GIMP, you can take advantage of one of the available drawing tools like pencil or paintbrush. You need to use both of you hands. You need your left hand to press the Shift button on your keyboard, while your right hand will be used to draw the line and direct it to the direction you want.
In this example, I am going to use a blue clean canvas.
- First off, select the drawing tool you want to use, I prefer to use paintbrush.
- Once picked a drawing tool, click anywhere on your canvas and press the Shift button on your keyboard and hold (hold until you get the straight line).
- Direct your mouse to any direction you want. Since you want to draw a straight line, you can direct your mouse to the horizontal or vertical direction.
- Specify the endpoint of your line and click on it and boom!. You got your straight line. You can now release your left hand from the Shift button.
Easy. Isn’t it?
