YouTube and Dailymotion are two of the most popular destinations for videos. You can get any type of video from those websites. From entertainment videos, inspirational videos, educational videos, to motivational videos. To access videos from those websites, all you need is an internet connection. For a certain reason, you might want to download your favorite videos from YouTube or Dailymotion so that you can watch them offline. If you use Mac, you can use VideoDuke to do so.
What is VideoDuke?
VideoDuke is an app that you can use to download video from website that provides videos. This app is developed exclusively for macOS, the operating system of Mac devices. It has a very easy-to-use interface and supports a wide range of popular platforms, including YouTube and Dailymotion as two of the most popular video repository. No registration is required to download a video using VideoDuke. You just need to install the app on your Mac and the rest is like slicing a piece of cake.
VideoDuke features
In addition to YouTube and Dailymotion, you can also use VideoDuke to download your favorite videos from Vimeo. These three websites (YouTube, Dailymotion, and Vimeo), are the main websites supported by VideoDuke. In addition to those three websites, you can also use VideoDuke to download videos from sites like Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
On the main window of the VideoDuke app, you will see the logos of YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion as follows.

Clicking one of those logos, you can explore the videos on the associated platform you clicked the logo of. Just like when you are exploring videos on those platforms via a web browser. Once you find an interesting video, you can simply click the video to watch it. Beneath the video player, you will see two buttons to download the video you are watching.

Clicking the first button (the above one) will download all files of the video such as audio, cover, flash animation, and so on while clicking the second button will download the video file only.
In addition to downloading a video from the explore mode, you can also download a video by pasting its URL on the field on the top bar of the app. When downloading a video, you will be able to select the resolution of the video you want to download before clicking the Download button.

There are two downloading modes offered by VideoDuke:
Simple mode
You can select this mode if you just need the file of the video. You can simply paste the URL of the video you want to download on the URL bar or search for the video by clicking the YouTube, Vimeo, or Dailymotion logo on the main window of the VideoDuke app as we have mentioned earlier. Before downloading the video, you can select your preferred video resolution. The available options depend on the original file of the video you want to download. VideoDuke itself supports 4K resolution, but you will only see this option only of the original video file you want to download is available in 4K resolution.
Advanced mode
If you need all files related to the video you want to download — such as the video cover, subtitle, and flash animation — you can select the advanced mode. This mode will fetch all files that construct the video as mentioned.
In addition to its main function to download videos, you can also use VideoDuke to extract the audio of a video. The audio will be saved in an MP3 format for offline playing. VideoDuke also comes with download history to allow you to review what videos you have downloaded.
VideoDuke cons
VideoDuke works very well to download videos. There is no issue related to the downloading process. Also, it has a super easy-to-use interface that offers a hassle-free user experience. The only con probably is related to the business model applied by the developer. VideoDuke is released as a freemium app. You can use it for free but limited to only two downloads. This restriction is too tight.
To download more videos, you need to buy the pro version which costs $19.95 for a single Mac device.
The verdict
If you are a Mac user and need an app to download videos from sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, or social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, VideoDuke is a great option. Despite its tight restriction for the free version, VideoDuke is functionally great. It’s hassle-free and supports comes with some useful features such as the ability to download 4K videos, download history, browser integration, and so on. Overall, VideoDuke is a nice app.
