Not all Instagram users are kind or wise people. Some never think twice before they post a comment even if they know that the words they want to post are inappropriate. You can’t really safe from offensive comments on Instagram. But you can control what words you don’t want to see on the comment column of your Instagram account
You can actually disable the commenting of each post via Advanced Settings. But, it is not a good idea if you want to keep being able to interact with your friends and followers. Instagram has a feature that allows you to filter certain words from showing up on the comment box of each post. You can use this feature to prevent annoying words produced by bots and bad users.
There is no guarantee that your account will 100% free from annoying or spam comments. At least you have tried to minimize it.
Go to your profile by tapping the person icon on the bottom-right corner. On your profile screen, tap the three-line icon on the top-right corner and select Settings.
Tap Privacy on the Settings screen and you will see Comments option under the Interactions section. Tap this option to open the commenting settings.
There is Manual Filter option under the Filters section. Enable this option and enter the words you don’t want to see on the comment column of your Instagram account. If you want to filter several words, separate them with commas.
There are two other filtering options you can enable as well:
- Hide Offensive Comments: Enabling this option allows Instagram to automatically hide offensive words.
- Filter Most Reported Words: There are inappropriate comment words and phrases reported by Instagram users. Enabling this filtering option allows Instagram to automatically hide most commonly reported words or phrases.
