Twitter is a chronological-based social media platform. All tweets from the accounts you follow always appear on your timeline, unless you mute them.
In twitter, not all conversations matter. If you dislike political issues, you surely feel uncomfortable seeing political words spreading on your timeline. You want to unfollow accounts who tweet the political issues, it turn out there are so many accounts tweeting the same thing.
In case you didn’t know, Twitter has a mute feature to allow you mute certain words. Using this feature, you can stop certain words from appearing on your timeline.
Mute words on Twitter mobile app
On the mobile platform, Twitter is available for Android and iOS. You can stop certain words from appearing on your timeline regardless the platform you use.
To mute words on Twitter mobile app, launch the Twitter app on your smartphone and swipe left the screen to open the Twitter menu and select Settings and privacy.

Tap the Privacy and safety option on the Settings and privacy page.

Scroll down to the Safety section and tap the Muted words option.

Tap the plus button on the bottom-right corner and enter the words you want to mute. You can set the mute duration by tapping the For how long? option under the the Duration section. Don’t forget to tap the Save button on the top-right corner.

Mute words on Twitter web
If you often use Twitter on web instead of mobile app, you can also mute certain words via Twitter web. To do so, click your profile name on the top-right corner to open the Twitter menu and select Settings and privacy.

On the Settings page, select the Privacy and safety option on the left panel.

Scroll down to the Safety section and click the Muted option.

On the Muted page, click the Muted words option and click the plus button to add words you want to mute.

Enter the words you want to mute and set the mute duration. On Twitter web, you have option to select from who the words you want to mute come from. Whether from anyone or only the accounts you don’t follow.

Just don’t forget to click the Save button.
