How to Turn Off LibreOffice’s Splash Screen on Ubuntu

Are you a LibreOffice user?. LibreOffice is one of the best alternatives to Microsoft Office. Not just because it’s free. This office suite also has many features just like Microsoft Office. Nearly all Microsoft Office features are available in LibreOffice.

Every time you open LibreOffice, whether it is Calc, Writer, Impress, Draw or Math, you will welcomed by a splash screen for a couple of seconds. This splash screen is aimed to greet you while the program is loaded.

To be honest, there is no bad at all with splash screen but still, there are a lot of people doesn’t like to see it. If you don’t like to see it too, you can turn it off easily.

This article will show you how to turn off LibreOffice’s Splash Screen on Ubuntu.

  • Head to Unity Dash to open the terminal. Or you can simply press CRTL+ALT+T
  • Type the following command
$sudo gedit /etc/libreoffice/sofficerc
  • You should see the following lines

  • Change the Logo=1 line to Logo=0 and save the change.

Now you will no longer see splash screen every time you open LibreOffice.
