If you think that Windows 10 displays too many notifications on a daily basis, you can set it to display fewer notifications to minimize your work distractions. In Windows 10, you can manage notifications via the Settings menu.
Windows 10 itself displays each notification on the lower-right corner of your screen, right above the system tray. Windows 10 uses notification to let you know over the system updates, incoming emails, newly installed apps, and so on. Some apps — be it default apps or third-party apps — also use notification to let you know over certain actions. For instance, you will see a new notification every time you are done taking a new screenshot with Lightshot.

By default, each notification banner appears for 5 seconds.
To change this default setting, you can open Windows Settings by clicking the gear icon on the start menu.

Select Ease of Access option on the Windows Settings window.

On the next screen, scroll down to the Simplify and personalize Windows section and you will find a Show notifications for option. Simply select your option.

As mentioned above, not just the default apps of Windows that make use of the Windows 10 notification feature. Some third-party apps also use this feature to notify you of certain actions. If you don’t want certain apps to display notifications regardless of what you have done with it, you can disable the notification of them. To do so, you can select the System option on the Windows Settings main window.

On the next screen, select Notifications & action on the left panel. If you want to disable all notifications from the apps, you can simply turn off the switch on the Get notifications from apps and other senders option.

Or, if you want to disable the notifications from certain apps only, you can scroll down further to the Get notifications from these senders section and turn off the switch of the apps you want to disable the notifications from.

- How to disable notification sound and banner
In Windows 10, notifications are displayed in a pop-up banner. Typically, a pop-up banner is followed by a notification sound. You can disable either the banner or the sound if you want. Or even both. To do so, you can click the app you want to disable the pop-up banner/sound notification of on the Get notifications from these senders section on the steps above.
