3 Ways to Open Recycle Bin in Windows 10

Accidentally deleted an important file on your Windows 10 computer? Don’t panic. Before you spend money on a recovery tool, you can restore your deleted files from Recycle Bin. In Windows, when you delete a file, the file you deleted is still around on your computer. You can restore by opening Recycle Bin.

Recycle Bin is a folder that stores deleted files. Unless you have emptied this folder, all of the files you deleted can be easily restored by right-clicking and select Restore. The easiest way to open Recycle Bin in Windows 10 is by double-clicking the Recycle Bin desktop icon. What if this icon disappeared for a certain reason?. You can get it back. To do so, open the Windows Settings window by clicking the gear icon on the start menu. Go to Personalization -> Themes and click the Desktop icon settings link.

Tick the Recycle Bin option and click the OK button.

Method 1: Via File Explorer

You can open Recycle Bin via File Explorer. To do so, click the icon on the address bar and type “recycle bin”.

Method 2: Via Run Dialog Box

Press the Windows+R keys on the keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Type explorer.exe shell:RecycleBinFolder and hit enter.

Method 3: Via Desktop location

Press the Windows+R keys on the keyboard to open the Run dialog box and type shell:desktop. Double the Recycle Bin icon.

If you are likely to open Recycle Bin quite often, you can also add Recycle Bin to “This PC” in File Explorer. To do so, run Command Prompt as administrator by right-clicking Command Prompt on the start menu and select More -> Run as administrator.

Type the following command and hit enter. The command below will add a new item to the Window Registry.

reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

After executing the command above, go to “This PC” on File Explorer and you should see Recycle Bin right there.
